CODECANT’s process originates in a fascination with the psychological dimensions of colour, drawing on Josef Albers’ Homage to the Square and his writings on the relativity of perception. This inquiry into colour evolved into an exploration of spatial dynamics and how hue might embody states of the human psyche—nostalgia, grief, loneliness, and agency.
The resulting series of photographs occupy a space between representation and ambiguity, working on a psycho-geographical level. A series of dioramic models was constructed using found and recycled materials. Acting as the framework architecture, the employment of fragmented light, elemental geometries, and strict chromatic systems were used strategically. These material interventions transform the ordinary, elevating the mundane into compositions that ambiguously refer to a mystical, occult sanctum.
Each work functions as an esoteric cipher: patterns embedded in everyday life yet articulate symbolism in cultural, architectural, and spiritual ornament. Through the deliberate interplay of form and colour, ambiguous qualities of the ethereal emerge from prosaic material. This transformation prompts a wider commentary on the dualism of fabrication vs authenticity - reflected in conspiratorial circles, deep state structures, notions of the divine, and digital-age media.
